Use of seat belt and child restraints is the most effective
way to protect people in motor vehicle crashes.
From 1975 to 2001, safety belts are estimated to have saved 147,246
lives and have prevented an additional 3.8 million injuries nationwide. In 2004, there were 461 motor vehicle fatalities
